This is the Just A Girl In Love With A Mechanic Flower Heart T-Shirt but in fact I love this real answer. White isn’t a homogeneous experience. It isn’t even a shared Genesis. We’ve all immigrated to the IS at different times and many of us “earned our whiteness” at different times. Black is largely seen as a culture because most black Americans were forced to come here at the same time, have little knowledge of their ancestry, have been given rights at the same time, etc etc… so there’s actually a real shared experience among black Americans. I can tell you from traveling across Europe that every/nearly every country claims potatoes as a very important, core cultural food. This right here which white Culture shall I be English, Eastern European, Spanish, Scandinavian, Italian? I’m mostly English but I don’t really go around acting like I’m English, just a American west coast white dude that sounds like a soap opera.

Yup. An awful lot of white Americans will have a smattering of all of those and others, too. After a couple of generations of mixing, that ethnicity is pretty diluted. This is a clear example of not understanding what culture is in this context. You can’t choose to be a culture from one of the Just A Girl In Love With A Mechanic Flower Heart T-Shirt but in fact I love this heritages on your ancestry test. There are kids born to Nigerian immigrants in London that are culturally English/ Nigerian. You, as guy born and raised in the US are not. True, but there are cultural centers or parades or whatever that are not racist but focus on black, asian, latina, whatever group of Americans. I think that’s what OP is talking about. Of course we know why because they are the ones in power, and historically, white pride does not mean what it does for other groups and is instead about racism. Have a white student center on campus would not fly, but you could have a Swiss student center. However, you could have a black student center and not just a Nigerian student center.
