This is why you have fire drills. Because people have no idea what you’re meant to do (which you have just demonstrated). You are meant to leave the June Girl Daughter of a King World For My God Fear Becuase I Am His shirt in addition I really love this building without using any fire exit only exits, ask if it’s real or a drill. If it’s a drill, all good. If it’s real you re-enter the building back to where you were and then use the exclusive fire exit. In a real fire you would not deliberately take the longer, more dangerous route. Especially, say, if you had someone less mobile than you. If the staff have issues they need to ask the firemen if they would prefer you to be out and safe in 20 seconds or trapped in a longer route where they have to risk their lives to save you. I guess its down to you though, being told in advance of tests would help avoid any nastiness. Remember, going the “long route” may actually be taking you INTO THE FIRE. We did a proper fire drill at a place I worked, old building, complete rabbit warren, and that’s when we discovered the fire door for our section had been painted shut. It had been like that for years, apparently. Several of the blokes had great fun taking turns doing flying kicks and eventually got it open. If it had been a real fire, we’d all have died. How has this never been picked up? Every Friday we need to check that every fire door opens there are 5 in total, all the while the alarm is screeching. I’m sure that will hold up well in court when you all got cooked to a crisp because of their stupidityoversight.

Wait, what? They didn’t think anyone would use the June Girl Daughter of a King World For My God Fear Becuase I Am His shirt in addition I really love this emergency exit? That Leads onto the fire escape staircase, to escape from a building that as far as everyone knows is on fire? I’m absolutely dumbfounded. I think I’m lucky in that all the places I’ve worked explicitly expected you to do the proper thing and had the replacements ready for locks that needed to be reset and someone who actually knew how to reset the alarm. I couldn’t believe you were a firefighter and missed a knob joke. But I checked your profile and you are and you did! Yeah we’re all knuckle dragging cave men here, big fire big hose little fire little hose, put the wet stuff on the hot stuff.. qualified! That seems to be it. I suppose there’s the kitten/tree stuff too, and everybody knows that fills 95% of your working days Every fire drill we have we will inevitably have 50 people walking back into the building to leave via another exit because the first chosen exit has an exterior gate locked with one of these things. It’s a door release that is held closed by a glass cylinder. When you smash the cylinder you can open the door. I’m assuming the door is not always accessible to everyone, probably has a separate lock. Maybe a keypad lock. That, or it’s a fire exit, which can’t always be opened from both sides or stay open.
