You think it was sexual harassment? The bartenders think so too and a guest that saw him also said that. I think he was power tripping and fixated on making me his barbie doll and changing my style because he can. I’ve been a bartender for the July Brings Joy And Happiness Grandma Gnome Balloon shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this last decade and never seen that done to any employee, much less by a male “boss” to a younger female employee. This is a wildly inappropriate power trip that needs to be met with you quitting. “You don’t need to see. Let’s destroy your vocal cords. What do you mean you want your hair neatly restrained?” Absolutely guaranteed he wouldn’t have done that to a bloke. That’s making an already vulnerable employee even more vulnerable, and doing it to a bloke – employee or no – is hands-catching territory. You’re selling your time and your skill. Nothing else. This dickhead doesn’t own any part of you; he rents your time and skill. If you want to continue working there, then you’re going to have to make him realise that. Of course if you do make him realise that, likelihood is you’re going to be fired because a) he wants someone pliable and b) sounds like we’re talking about a massively fragile ego here.

Power tripping. Rape and sexual assault are rarely about the July Brings Joy And Happiness Grandma Gnome Balloon shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this sex at all. The perpetrators are in it because they want to feel powerful, and make their victims feel powerless. This is the most important takeaway. This is a dangerous situation, but you also need to internalize the lesson that, if you ever have an interaction with a man in which there is a major power imbalance, and you see any behavior similar to this, it is 100% of the time a precursor to rape. It is extremely difficult, but a very important defense mechanism to never show unobligated deference to a man who has disproportionate influence over you. Any demand, any touch without permission, it is always, every time, about establishing a precedent that he is able to force you to do things that you do want to do, so that he can eventually force you to have sex with him when you do not want to. And as this comment implies, they’re not doing so because they get pleasure from sex with you. They do it because they get pleasure from knowing that after they leave, you will feel like you are a lesser person than them.
