I really wanted to like this movie and it had a lot of good things but man most of the Joy To The World Skiing Snoopy and Charlie’s Friend Shirt and I will buy this dialogue was so cliche and trite and it was so tough for me to get past. Plus I couldnt help but laugh after Gordon read something out loud for the 100th time. I almost though they were going to kill off Alfred. they might as well have lol, his character was so underwritten i really wanted to love this movie but i just didn’t. it wasn’t even bad. it was just…..meh. the story and characters weren’t bad but to me nothing in this movie justifies the massive runtime. this felt like 6 hours. it just didn’t stop. It was fine. Performances were generally pretty good and Colin Farrell was absolutely fantastic. I didn’t really like the Riddler and found Dano’s performance really strange and all over the place. I liked the city and the sets, especially Bruce’s tower and Falcone’s office. The plot was sloppy and generally really boring until the third act. The fights were ok and the last action scene was really exciting and fun even though it kind of feels like it came out of nowhere. I think its probably on the same level for me as TDKR, maybe a bit lower and definitely doesn’t even come anywhere close to Begins and TDK. just got out of my showing and wow.. matt reeves… battinson… the fucking score.. tremendous. the only part that i thought was a little cheese was the ramp the truck made, other than that everything else was fire. I could probably watch an 8 hour cut I loved this movie so much, especially how Batman and Riddler never fought each other. They respected the villain as a mental adversary rather than a physical one. To that end if there is one minor thing I would have changed it would be the discovery of the endgame plot and how Batman triumphs over the Riddler.

We never get to see Batman solve a puzzle that Riddler didn’t intend him to. After all of Edward’s games he ends up leaving a video for Batman where he spells out exactly what the Joy To The World Skiing Snoopy and Charlie’s Friend Shirt and I will buy this final plan is, which felt a little lazy. I love how they did it with the livestream to his followers setting us up for a battle with his goons, but I think they could have achieved the same thing and given Batman a win. All they had to change would be that the Riddler explains the bombs and flooding, but not where his followers were going to strike. It would have been a detail he intended to tell Batman but didn’t after finding out they weren’t actually partners. Batman then reason out where the most likely spot would be to inflict casualties based on how the flood would direct the crowd. We as the audience get to see our hero triumph over the villain by solving the final puzzle, and then we get to see how he reacts watching Batman stop his planned massacre.
