Only in the Joshua Bassett shirt besides I will buy this case of longer living animals with smaller reproductive capabilities such as reptiles and mammals does that make sense. Insects and arthropods live for such a little amount of time and are so small there’s a good chance the male will never find another female again and at least taking the risk of being eaten afterwards means you’ve gotten your genes passed once, unlike the males who don’t try at all. Plus, there’s hundreds of babies instead of a few dozen or less so it’s not like it’s risking the population any. Although as has been mentioned before, it doesn’t always happen as the male often tries to escape or sometimes the female doesn’t even try to eat her mate to begin with. Oh the animals don’t do that everytime. They do it when they’re very hungry, seeing an opportunity in a male who is weak/tired. The species that do this often are non-social animals whose males evolves to just reproduce and that’s it. It’s why black widow males are so small; no need to defend babies or show your worth if you exist to serve any female who will have you.

Some male insects are unable to eat. They’re basically complex semen that serve to impregnate a female and die. Insects don’t rear children, so males really don’t serve much of a purpose after that. In some species of deep sea anglerfish, the Joshua Bassett shirt besides I will buy this male will bite the female and fuse with her body. He eventually becomes a parasitic set of gonads that fertilizes her eggs. NAPM (not a praying mantis)… But … Personally, I can never be sure a woman really loves me until she’s tried to kill me at least once. Just like in some families: men are useless. They donate their sperm, don’t participate in raising their kid and let women do everything. They’re only a burden after childbirth, because you’ll have another man child to take care of. So I understand why they get eaten in the insect world, where they don’t help raising their offspring either.
