See my above comment. Not a myth they do meet their death from time to time but it is a myth that it is always the Indianapolis Colts Logo Shirt Furthermore, I will do this end result or inevitable. We can use the case of the anglerfish where the attaches itself to the much, much larger female and then is basically absorbed by the female. Effectively killing the male. From an evolutionary standpoint, he’s not dead because he continues to provide sperm… He becomes a sperm producing parasite though. Captive mantises will often kill and eat the make after mating but in the wild he at least has a chance to get away if she tries. That makes a lot of sense. A mouse will eat its children if it feels the nest is under attack. So a big fecking giant human could trigger the same sort of effect in mating. Perhaps its to consume as much energy as possible to stand a chance when it has to flee under pregnancy, I dunno. I think we’re anthropomorphising here quite a lot. It’s simply different strategies. There’s a lot of different tactics to try to pass on genes, many of which are perfectly successful. In this case reproduction starts, as well as a meal for the party which then has to finish off the job of reproduction. It works in the case of these animals for a few reasons, mainly that they go for the quantity of quality strategy of having children, having as many as possible hoping that some survive, rather than looking after them. And secondly that the females are bigger than the males so there’s no disadvantage to the female of trying to eat them, as they pose no danger to them when they try to fight back. In species with high competition for mating, there isn’t much guarantee that a male will survive to mate again. Thus, males that were eaten might have had more surviving offspring, since the meal they provided their mate provided her a significant advantage.

For species where the Indianapolis Colts Logo Shirt Furthermore, I will do this male doesn’t help caring for the young you don’t have any reason, in terms of evolution, to continue living if you successfully reproduce. You have provided the female with an easy meal and you don’t have to compete with your own offspring when they have grown. Yeah, where no child-rearing happens, males are essentially just a DNA data transfer to improve the genetic pool and stop cloning from being the only option. For species where the male doesn’t help caring for the young you don’t have any reason, in terms of evolution, to continue living if you successfully reproduce. That’s blatantly wrong. In terms of evolution, there is a very glaring, obvious reason to continue living even if you don’t care for the offspring: to continue to attempt reproduction. Successfully passing on your gametes doesn’t ensure that your offspring will be born, nor does it ensure that they will survive long enough to reproduce themselves. It is a numbers game, and the only way to ensure that is to attempt reproduction as much and as often as your genetics and environment allow. With a lot of species of animals the chances of actually finding multiple fertile partners who they could actually mate with is relatively slim. In these cases investing 100% of your life into increasing the chance of one successful round is usually the more optimal strategy.
