I’m the Josh Rojas Seattle Glory American professional baseball utility player T-Shirt it is in the first place but older sibling, I struggled so hard in school often taking the standard classes and not the college prep courses, I failed a math one year and had summer school. My brother, a freaking wiz kid, all A’s all the time everytime and it’s not like we had a different home life, he wasn’t studying or doing extra work. He just breezed through everything. It wasn’t until we where older and at my dad’s places who lived about 3 hours from my mom, my dad gives my brother gas money to drive back. He turns up 2 hours later back at dad’s house having went the wrong direction on the turn pike for over an HOUR. Needing more money and feeling really embarrassed. That’s when I realized I got the common sense, and he got the academic smarts.

Each one has their strengths. It really is so amazing how two kids brought up essentially in the Josh Rojas Seattle Glory American professional baseball utility player T-Shirt it is in the first place but same way, same school (we even had a lot of the same teachers) are so fundamentally different. What was that Einstein quote? If you test a fish on its ability to fly, it will fail but if you test it on its ability to swim, it will be a genius? Intelligence is not a catch all. Being smart in one area does not mean you’ll be smart in others. You can be a rocket scientist and still not understand a basketball playbook or how to use it efficiently. Like, I made a mistake at something, or whatever, didn’t get something I attempted, whatever. “But you’re such a smart kid.” My ex bil was supposedly gifted. He had absolutely 0 common sense. It led to multiple members of the family asking if it was possible that he was told he was in “special classes.” But they maybe didn’t tell him those classes were special education classes because he needed help to perform at the same level as his peers. He’s absolutely insufferable. Believes he’s the smartest person in the room at all times and should be in charge or everything because of it. Yet has to be one of the dumbest people I have ever met. I think they take childhood IQ too early. Then say yep this one is gifted! But everyone catches up to the gifted kids by middle school. Unless someone is a genius I don’t believe they’re gifted. They might be smart. But the world has lots of smart people. Honors students from my memory were just kids with perfectionist tendencies. They were slower because it had to be perfect. My husband is this way. But also lacks in common sense. We were throwing a party once and I said hey you clean this room and I’ll get the rest. I came back after finishing cleaning up my rooms to Him making sure the pictures in the room were level. Hadn’t touched anything else. Yes, I still tease him about this. He gets lost in the details and can’t see the big picture.
