So, it was just the biologist, my husband and myself there for hours in the afternoon, soaking in all the beauty of the immense series of falls, the shifting rainbows in the mist, the exotic birds, the orchids, everything without a single other tourist there.

I thought that our guide frequently arranged such special outings at Iguazu, but he told us he had never done it before and we had just gotten lucky that day …. In Portugal, we booked a tour of Peneda-Gerês National Park. It turned out to be FREE yay, even though I didn’t purchase it. So lucky me!

So I left behind the toothpaste (cheapest) and the next day, went to a drugstore to replace it. This was downtown in a major city, so easy enough to do. 30 minutes after my unneeded shopping trip, a woman entered that drugstore and randomly stabbed someone, killing them. If I’d waited for one more client meeting to finish, I could have been there.
While in Athens a pigeon pooped and it landed right next to my boyfriend without getting on him.. I call that pretty lucky.. Basically, I got to live like a local who was taking a week off. It was AMAZING – hands down the best trip I’ve taken and the most beautiful place I’ve been. When I tell people I went to Lebanon everyone thinks of the war-torn media portrayal of Lebanon currently and how unsafe it must have been but that was the opposite of my experience.
