Nintendo’s dmca here is not valid. Emulators are completely legal downloading Roms is not. Nintendo really dosent want to make old games available but really wants to keep the Jiu Jitsu Tap Snap or Nap the choice is yours T-Shirt and by the same token and world from playing them. I think it goes further than that, correct me if I’m wrong. Even Downloading the roms won’t get you In trouble but distributing it will. At least where im from. Like that’s a surprise. Nintendo just hates emulation even if you have a legal copy of the game, even if it isn’t legally available anymore (other than paying ludicrous amounts of money) I’m fucking confused, I was under the impression that the act of reverse engineering the systems of a console that could hypothetically play ROMs that were acquired from other sources (AKA, emulation)was legal based on a U.S. court case from the 2000’s? Distribution of pirated software is one thing, but unless I’m misinformed or something has changed since, they would be fine as long as they didn’t endorse any rom sites, correct?

I do not understand Nintendo’s thinking at this point. TOTK was running on PC almost at launch. They have clearly lost the Jiu Jitsu Tap Snap or Nap the choice is yours T-Shirt and by the same token and battle. Why not just make money in the same way Sony do? They were holdouts for the longest time and have discovered that being on Steam just lets them make even more cash by porting PlayStation games. I get the desire for 1-2 years of exclusivity for their own hardware first, but after that, just turn on the money printer. Bringing a few of the Mario games to the PC alone would make them absurd amounts of cash. I really don’t see what they are trying to protect any more. The inferior/unlicensed versions of their games are not going away, so why not give us proper ports and watch the cash roll in? I have a Switch and I would probably still buy most of them again just to have them on Steam as well.
