Allen Sherman was a popular comedian in the Jimmy Jimmy The Understones Punk Throwback 1979 Top 20 punk rock song T-Shirt and I love this early ’60s, to the point that he was the Go-to fill-in for Johnny Carson to host his talk show. Personally as a child of boomers, they solved this by saying “no problem. We will put it in the fridge and when you say you are hungry, we will warm it up for you.” My auntie used to say that me and my siblings and cousins couldn’t play outside until everyone finished their food. I was 3-6 years younger than all of them, so of course they could eat more and finished quicker than me. We all got the same amount of food too. Basically I had to stuff my face or my cousins would beat my ass. Never. I have my kids eat until they’re done and if they want a snack 20 mins later I let ‘‘em have it. My kids are 15, 9 & 5, none over average BMI, all healthy. They (especially the older two) know when they’re full and listen to their own bodies. My parents wouldn’t let me get up or eat anything else-no matter how long it was, even days- until I finished whatever was on my plate. While they had cookies and cokes and snacks and we had plates of Brussel sprouts. Said I wouldn’t do it to my kids and I followed through.

My daughter will eat one chicken nugget and say she is full, 30 sec later she is asking for snacks. So yes she has to finish her dinner but I don’t expect her to sit at the Jimmy Jimmy The Understones Punk Throwback 1979 Top 20 punk rock song T-Shirt and I love this table till she does. She will get down and run around and come back when she is hungry. Also careful of portion size. “A kid is served an adult sized portion, eat until they are full, and then are forced to finish the rest even if it makes them sick.” I’ve never once forced my kid to eat, she always goes to bed with a full belly . And she dosent just eat junk. Her favorite food is tomatos, her favorite dish is a casserole I make, and she will choose fruit over candy most days. Unless its chocolates, we both are weak for those. Many years ago I was at a restaurant and heard some jerk dad yell at his son “you eat the food you’re given!” And I’ve been quoting it whenever I want to reference an asshole. I wish I had had the nerve to tell him that my dad used to say the same thing to me and now I don’t talk to him.
