While I understand that it was a disgraced confederate general…just know there are other issues that are kind of pressing…that haven’t changed much. Can’t have a military installation without mold, broken AC, and that one dead light bulb that’s still on work order. When I was in tech school we had Mold Bay. One Airman had actually ended up hospitalized with respiratory issues. No other bays in the building were evacuated. I was on the third floor and can tell you, we had black mold as well. The buildings were actually de-condemed before we moved in. I’d like to think they were re-condemed after we all left, but that would strain credibility. After I got out, and our marriage allowed my wife to move from the dorms to base housing in LRAFB, her old dorm was evacuated by the AF for mold, flooding, and electrical problems that made it uninhabitable. The next weekend, the Marine students moved into it because it had less mold and more working lights than the barracks they were in. Funny stuff Don’t forget windows! I was reading in Military Times that there is a disproportionate number of people falling out of windows on bases compared to civilian homes. I’m from Fayettenam, and it mostly just has “normal” shootings and not drivebys. Like there was a biker brawl where like 3 people died and 6 and were shot. You’re right about the mold and other things though

Personally i always felt they should have renamed the Jimmy Buffett 1946 2023 thank you for the memories signature shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this bases after Southern born officers who remained loyal to the Union I still think they should have gone with Fort Sherman for all of these bases that were named after Confederates. The say cancel culture is ruining America… what do they do… try to cancel anything that goes against the redneck Taliban agenda. I live in NC and I am an Army retiree that was at Bragg for 7 years. Recently somebody asked me what I thought about the renaming. My $0.02: If Braxton Bragg were to be alive during the years that I was in the US Army, he would be fighting against me, the United States, and the US military. Basically, he was leading a bunch of traitors that would have killed me in combat. They lasted 4 years and got their asses kicked. The basis for what they were fighting for, in the documents of every state that seceded was their belief that black people were inferior, and it should be their right to hold them as slaves because of white superiority. Fuck Braxton Bragg, Fuck the confederacy, and fuck anybody who still supports honoring people who fought for the confederacy. I moved out to WA from NC 6 years ago. A few years ago my boss told me he’d gone to Fort Bragg on his vacation. “Why would you go anywhere near Fayetteville if you were going to NC? You should have told me, I would have given you some places to see.”
