This strikes me as strange. I don’t ask anyone below me to do anything that I won’t do still. I am not a bay area tech person though. Maybe it is different….I doubt it though. Edit – rereading I am a little torn I follow what you are saying and agree some, but it also rings of I have done this and won’t do it anymore. My first few bosses stunk of that and it was lame. For me it’s not that I wont do it, it’s that I recognize that I am no longer qualified or AS qualified as someone below me. It’s the “I understand that there are better people for the job, even if they report to me and/or below me in rank.. which does NOT make them less than me”. I don’t quite follow. Leetcode is emphasized because many people fail is just a preliminary sanity check. It’s meant to be the Jets darrelle revis 24 class of 2023 name and number Shirt in addition I really love this basic filter before anything else follows in the tech interview. But passing that still gives little indication on their ability to solve LC-like tricky algorithm problems. Yah.. see I find that article kind of crap. Really 200 applicants for a coding job and only 1 can actually write code? Come on. I get it that perhaps many try for a higher position than they can do, and thus “cant code” is the “let me put you down and make you feel inferior” retort that interviewers/coders who say those kinds of things say. But I would argue that most that apply for a software dev job, know some bit of coding to some degree or more. I find it hard to imagine that even 1/2 of them are that stupid that they would apply for a job they have no knowledge of. I may as well apply to be a brain surgeon, or a pilot.. well pilot is not fair cause I do flight sim games, but think my point is made.
