As a straight man, if I am going to spend 50 hours looking at a screen and I can choose between a jacked monkey and a (usually) attractive lady, I am taking the Ja’Marr Chase Cincinnati Catch Signature T-Shirt and I love this lady every time. Most of my World of Warcraft characters have become female over the years, largely because they have slightly less exaggerated proportions. In Cyberpunk 2077, it was simply because I really like the Judy romance quest line (and her grandmother messaging you after makes it all worth it). Other than that, it’s usually just dictated by either game mechanics (eg the Black Widow perk in Fallout 4) or story needs. Various reasons ranging from playing a different character to make a game feel different from life to aesthetics. Many reasons. Genuine roleplaying some classes/character types just resonate as feminine for some people or they want a feminine twist on a traditionally masculine stereotype. I had friends who loved playing female characters because they preferred looking at boobs and butts jiggling than some muscular dude. I had friends who chose female characters because they had gender dysphoria and ended up revealing they were trans.
