One time someone left me an almost full case of modelos and like 6 trulys, all sealed. Best start to a vacation ever lol. Were you in cancun in feb? Mighta been us. Somehow we over-bought the Jackson Five 59th Anniversary 1964-2023 Thank You For The Memories Shirt but in fact I love this last couple days lol. Think there was sealed wine, all kinds of beers, etc If the host employs a cleaner, definitely leave the extra food. There’s no extra effort for the cleaner to dispose of it if they don’t want it. In a lower income country, cheese is expensive for those that usually work in cleaning roles. Our guests often leave extra food and drink in the fridge and we distribute it amongst our cleaning staff, and let them decide what is trash or isn’t. We stayed somewhere recently and they specifically mentioned that we could leave food for their cleaners. Maybe just ask the host? I just ask that people toss things like leftovers or “immediately perishable”. As a host I never mind when we return to a pack of butter or something else we would otherwise spend $ on.

When we arrived at our Airbnb in the Jackson Five 59th Anniversary 1964-2023 Thank You For The Memories Shirt but in fact I love this Bahamas, there was a handful of unopen items, including some great local beers, water, etc. It was a perfect amount to get us started. Did this at an AirBNB once, left the ketchup, mustard, relish etc…. Stuff that can obviously be reused again, thinking it was a kind gesture to leave these things for the cleaner or the next guest. The Airbnb host came back and tried to charge us in additional cleaning fees for leaving a bottle of freaking once-used practically brand new ketchup in the fridge. I honestly don’t understand the mindset of some hosts. Maybe they are just unfeeling investor-types who only think of money and not hospitality. I’m a host who cleans our Airbnb guesthouse myself, and people leaving behind food, opened and unopened, doesn’t bother me at all. It takes like 60 seconds to toss what needs to be tossed in the garbage. Anything unopened, i usually leave in the fridge or take myself (especially eggs). If someone leaves full-size condiments, I wipe them off and leave them in the fridge for other guests to use. Never had a complaint. I check the use-by dates periodically and throw away anything that’s past the date.
