Got a nice Russell Hobbs from Argos, thirty quid or so. It doesn’t fill itself. It won’t get the mugs out of the dishwasher and put a teabag or coffee into said mug. I don’t understand all this fuss about wifi on appliances – if I’ve loaded the washer, i turn it on, i don’t need to remember to text the bastard when I’m on the school run… Glad someone asked actually, I’m in the same boat at the moment. My only solid criteria are clear sided, 1.7L or above, and no matter what, cool blue lights. I’ve had a smart kettle for around 6 years and it’s AMAZING. Via Alexa it’s set to boil automatically at 06.10 am so I just amble down the stairs and make my morning brew. No standing around in the cold waiting for it. Alexa says ‘rise and shine’ and on it goes. Also programmed to switch on when I say ‘Alexa, put kettle on’. Amusing for if son happens to wander into the kitchen in search of yet more food… I whisper it for it to be switched on while he’s there’s as a MASSIVE hint to make me a tea.

my favourite kettle is the Jack Fox Detroit FPOS American professional football player T-Shirt moreover I will buy this russell hobbs quiet boil kettle – brushed. it boils pretty quickly and lasts really well Just don’t get a boiling water tap (a ‘quooker’) – they are viciously expensive, confuse overnight guests who just want a cuppa first thing, and are operated with a rather unfortunate hand movement. I like my Zwilling kettle, it’s cool to the touch on the outside making it safer if you have kids and it’s stainless steel inside making it resistant to limescale. Isn’t it better for them to learn not to touch a kettle from the outside rather than grabbing it and getting the insides soaked into their clothes? Why would children ever have access to the outside of a boiled kettle anyway? The outside temp isn’t the danger at this point. So the water inside stays hotter for longer, in the event that you leave it a while after boiling before making a pot noodle. I have a nice scar on my elbow from it accidentally touching the outside of a stainless steel kettle as a kid so I reckon it’s not total bollocks… 80°C perfect if you have a cold for Lemsip without turning it bitter – you can mix the Lemsip with cold water then add hot, that works fairly well, this is just easy and spor on.
