Definitely not trainees. And doctors won’t quit their profession and lose their incomes because future doctors might not get paid as much. Do they? I hear this claim about european healthcare systems all the Jack Drury American professional ice hockey center for the Carolina Hurricanes T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this time especially when they shit talk about US healthcare systems. But in the US, we treat way more procedures than they do in Europe. Hell, they don’t even cover orthodontics in their universal health care system. Guess how I know, I’m a practicing doctor with a private clinic that takes Medicaid. So our patients get all their treatment for free, as long as we pre-determine or pre-authorize with medicaid. So I’m guessing these wild claims about European healthcare is because they don’t bother including many “necessary” procedures and deem them “elective” which you pay out of pocket. Medicaid thresholds are different state to state. Many states chose not expand it. It’d be nice we had Medicaid for all but we can’t even get Medicare for all. I don’t think we can measure the US healthcare system by what Medicaid provides. Seems like people in this thread didn’t think much about why doctors are upset. The biggest problem in Korean healthcare right now is the lack of doctors in critical specialties like peds, EM, cardiothoracic. There are reasons why doctors don’t wanna do these specialties. Many reasons, but the biggest one is that the government has set price for every treatment these specialties perform, and they’re ridiculously low (pediatricians can only make $12-13 per patient, and this price hasn’t changed for the last 30 years). Most pediatric doctors who run private practice are losing money or barely surviving. In the meantime, pediatricians are getting sued left and right by overly protective parents, and the court often sides with the parents unfairly. Another example? An EM doc was sued because he performed CPR and broke the patents ribs, which is common and inevitable to save a life. The doc lost in the lawsuit. Court’s reasoning? Doc didn’t explain the risk of CPR to the patient beforehand. What kind of idiot doctor will explain that to a patient who needs a CPR? If a patient needs a CPR, that patient is unconscious and almost dead. Makes sense no one wants to do these specialties.

Government’s solution? Pump more people into medicine, and hopefully these extra med students will fill those unpopular specialties. How’s this a solution to that problem, and if the Jack Drury American professional ice hockey center for the Carolina Hurricanes T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this root cause is not addressed, even if they triple the med school quota, would there be any change? Doctors are upset cause the government came up with this stupid solution and shows no motivation to address the root cause of this problem. You know what else the government is trying to do? Obviously they don’t like all these pediatricians and emergency medicine doctors doing botox. They want to legalize nurses doing botox, so when the nurses join the beauty medicine competition, the govt thinks these doctors will go back to their own specialty. What kind of idiot comes up with this solution? That’s why Korean doctors are upset.
