I’m also a person who has experience “afflictive thought”. Once during a retreat I experienced the Immanuel Quickley New York Knicks shirt Additionally,I will love this plethora of thoughts that cascade without ending and that it seemed every atom gave birth to a million thoughts. Indeed there is no end to it. Thinking is perfectly normal and one has to really be ok with oneself having many thoughts. We can’t really control our mind by telling it to shut up. That will always have the opposite effect. By chasing thought we give it energy and it just works harder. Be allowing our thoughts to be exactly as they are, we stop giving them energy. As soon as we give them the freedom to be what they are with interference they are seen as empty. When that happens they vanish. Another requirement is to ground one’s awareness in the body. If our awareness is up in our head, we are too close to our thoughts and they can’t be seen.

There are techniques for doing this. Honestly, until this was pointed out to me, I was up in my head directing the Immanuel Quickley New York Knicks shirt Additionally,I will love this meditation. This just contributed to the misery of afflictive thought. Dropping down into the body and locating our awareness in the torso or limbs, etc. gives us a different vantage point where the Mind feels less noisy. There are many methods to induce a feeling of vastness or spaciousness into the Mind. These work because they help us to recognize that our Original Mind is actually really clear and empty like space. I feel like this sometimes. For me it feels like a side effect of social media constantly blasting my mind with the coolest/best/most beautiful thing. It overstimulates our minds and leaves everything else seeming dull. Too much of a good thing is actually bad for us
