This is going to turn into where an “employer” isn’t someone who pays you anything. They are just someone who has you do tasks for them so you can earn tips on their property. I’d rewrite that sign: “Please tell your employer to pay take-out order staff a fair living wage and not beg customers to do that for them!” Where was I? Personally, whenever someone orders to go, I’ll take the liberty and tell them to choose 0% on tip unless I’m heavily modifying an order I have always been told that tips are for table service and I don’t need to tip anyone for to-go orders. The tipping culture is just out of control. And not just tipping, but also the solicitation for donations. Last month at a costco, a cashier showed me the donation for children page on the machine and I declined asap, and she gave me this dirty look as if I committed some crime against humanity. Yanno. When people ASK for that? I purposly walk away. It’s NOT my job to make sure you have enough money. I tip depend on how good of a job you do. If you ask for tips? You will not recieve any from me. If you do a outstanding job (Smile, take my order etc etc (Do your damned job you’re paid to do without complaining rather) ) then I will tip very well. Usually no less than 10$ which is pretty good for a single person. 20$ if repeat business and never any complaints. Happened to me once in Ithaca NY.
