Thank god they don’t seem to be selling them that low. I feel like the I’m the crazy grandma everyone warned you about shirt and by the same token and low-rise jeans of today look virtually mid-rise to me, having lived through the 2000s as well. Back then I feel like my butt showed the second I bent over even the slightest bit. At all times. Shortest fly ever. It is a very good look! It looks very intentional. I on the other hand have short legs, so a cropped look makes them look even shorter. This is interesting because I have short legs and full length jeans make me look soooooo stumpy. I guess it just depends! I absolutely think it’s still current. I don’t think that longer length jeans being highlighted means shorter length jeans are at all outdated. Longer length is more of a hot, passing trend imo, where as regular/short are a little more classic. Yes I’m a ✨gamine✨and a slim, cropped leg gives me life so “cold dead hands” yadda yadda. I look like a chunky child in wide-leg, full-length pants ? Fellow gamine checking in; I feel you about the slim cropped leg. Although the slim bell-bottoms with heels are also one of my favorites. Thank you so much for this writeup! For some reason trends and staples aren’t as obvious to me as they used to be, as so this has been really helpful.

Ha I’ve noticed all of this as well. I was remote for a while but I choose to go in the I’m the crazy grandma everyone warned you about shirt and by the same token and office 2-3 days a month now. It’s mostly a gen Z crowd, so many sneakers! We’re a “smart casual” office but nothing is really enforced. I definitely try to dress a little trendier for a more polished look! this is a great analysis. i was surprised that after covid a lot of my stuff was still fashionable enough to wear it. it was just not super trendy anymore but had become kind of standard. so what basically happened is i don’t have any clothes or shoes anymore that stand out and i’m not entirely sure which things that would be now Thank you! I’m glad so many people liked it. Since it was so well received I’m almost tempted to write more – on hats and outerwear and accessories, since I didn’t touch that to much.I agree with pretty much all of your observations. I’ve been thrifting a lot lately to find some vintage items. One thing I’ve noticed about the newer baguette bags (one’s that are inspired by the originals) is that they are larger and allow more room to actually fit stuff. The original baguette bags were so small. I work in an office and it’s not unusual to see someone sporting a hip pack as a crossbody. We tend to have a more laxed dress code (not overly formal) so smart sporty casual attire is fine. But I definitely see lots of folks sporting this. From teens, to young professionals and beyond.
