(We use the I’m not perfect come from Onerahi same thing shirt Additionally,I will love this term escalated for customers who are losing their shit over something and being difficult. But if they were to request SAR (all details held about them on system) escalated can be written off as the severity of the situation and we have escalated it to higher departments. Yep this happens every single day. The courier have no interest in actually investigating nor the resources. It’s easier for them to just say “Check the gps bro he’s in a 2 mile radius of your house”. I sell trading cards online and one customers went missing, checked the tracking and the “delivery” photo was the courier in the centre of fucking town. Luckily they eventually provided compensation but the cheeky bastards still stuck with the GPS shows delivered till the end. The GPS might even have shown them right by the house. We had a courier park outside a neighbour’s for 2 minutes and then dissappear with the parcel – run up to Christmas funnily enough – and claimed we didn’t answer the door. Mysteriously the parcel was missing the next day…

However if you contact the courier and request they contact the company regarding this they may be able to initiate this as they ‘got you involved’ in the first place. It may be that this would be enough to get the delivery driver worried and they’d miraculously find the missing parcel and get it delivered asap. From a criminal standpoint they’d have to prove beyond reasonable doubt you took the parcel and with the intent of not giving it to your neighbor. Now I’m not sure a picture of your leg would remotely meet the standard of proof required. It’s just a picture so it’s pretty doubtful you’ll get overly much agro should they report the matter to police. Maybe if the courier gave a statement against your version of the facts but likely a stretch. From a civil standpoint the level of proof would be on balance of probabilities. On balance could it be considered more likely than not that you took the parcel in based on the picture? Debatable as to what it proves really, far from conclusive. Plus if they decided to try to pursue the matter through small claims the item would have to be worth the cost of raising the action with debatable chance of success. As it was suggested writing a statement to John Lewis/formal complaint to the courier directly may well resolve the matter for all concerned. However if the neighbor escalates and becomes abusive/aggressive or physical with you as a result of this then by all means report the matter to the police.
