Even then, this is very situational and isn’t a likely set of circumstances – I have only had a couple of straight refusals when delivering to a neighbour (more often if they can’t take it, it’s because they won’t be home for a few days, for example). So it’s unlikely that the driver can pull this trick often enough to form a pattern. It’s probably opportunistic, although if the OP is a known refuser I suppose they could have planned for this and bided their time for the perfect parcel. Otherwise, and even then, don’t worry about it – you’ve done nothing wrong. Be polite, be helpful and just get on with your lives.
