The idiot American Stereotype that’s often touted here is no different from Australians being compared to Crocodile Dundees. I see a lot more videos on social media of Americans being gun toting idiots than Aussies acting like crocodile Dundee. I appreciate you coming to bat for the I’m Grumpy I Don’t Care Want Coffee Owl T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this millions of Americans who are not morons. I’m American but I grew up in Australia during my formative years and moved back for college and still live here. I have Australian family, it is like home to me and has shaped me greatly. It really sucks to see on these threads how many Aussies are happy to generalize and shit on 330 million people. Culturally, there are a lot of differences, but archetypes hold true anywhere. Ignorance isn’t an American invention, and I do feel like sometimes Australians use the US as a scapegoat for ubiquitous global problems, and criticize outward rather than looking inward. I’ve had a handful of bad experiences in-person of Aussies being rude solely because they know I’m American, but for the most part my Australian friends treat me like anyone else. We are very similar in many ways, especially Aussies and folks from my part of the US (mid-Atlantic East Coast).

I love you guys, but please try to talk about the I’m Grumpy I Don’t Care Want Coffee Owl T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this States and Americans with some nuance. 330 million people cannot be fit into the same box. Not surprising really, I get the impression that the USA is full of gun toting, right wing fruit cakes. I know this isn’t entirely accurate, but that’s what we see in the media. No, you’re not wrong. American here—in the somewhat safer enclave of a San Francisco suburb. The States have gone full-bonkers. Still, huntsman spiders are terrifying—they certainly like hanging out in my daughter’s apt in Bondi. Like, in the bathtub and once running up my pantsleg onto my shirt in a half sec, eliciting from me a blood curdling scream that brought my daughter running—only to double over laughing at me. Kids are awful
