I don’t blame him (I also don’t watch anything from Disney… Zero interest). He’s only made the first star wars and first Indiana Jones but milked them for a lifetime and billions of dollars. He’s an okay director a great businessman Yeah. It became clear as time went on that he may have not been great for Star Wars but dear lord he knows how to build an empire. It was one of the I’m A Grown Man I Do What My Wife Wants Marriage Sarcastic T-Shirt it is in the first place but OG Sci-fi movies, and his decision not to release the rights for profit benefitted him tremendously. Keeping the merchandise rights when the first movie started to take off was seen as a bad idea, but he probably can’t finance the rest of the OT without it. It was also a gamble, Damnation Alley was supposed to be the big film not Star Wars, but Star Wars was more popular. Yup. Fox had already written off Star Wars from its production and editing problems as Summer approached and they were sure Damnation Alley would be their big Summer hit instead, pouring marketing money into it rather than Star Wars. George and Marcia left for Hawaii ahead of the release, as George was convinced his career was over and he would never work in movies again so he may as well enjoy the worst day of his life in paradise.
