Boomers have garnered a reputation of callous selfishness for growing up in broad economic prosperity (mostly for white ppl- all the If You Want A Soft Serve Go Get Ice Cream T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this programs that boosted their economic ride generally had carve outs that excluded black ppl like the New Deal and subsidized housing from the gi bill etc) and as adults oversaw a political shit show that slowly vilified and then slowly defunded or just stripped the same things that previously helped them. I mean, the culmination of their adult voting choices has lead to what we have today… and even if the boomers you know aren’t the most vocal, annoying, and proud of overseeing a huge transfer of wealth from middle and lower classes to the upper echelons of wealth, the others didn’t speak up enough over time to provide proper pushback and now think ppl like Bernie Sanders (someone pushing for the basic things that boomers had in their youth) are “radical.”

Bush literally stole an election but we didn’t do shit abt it and 21 years later we’re gagged at a bunch of hogs failing to do it. Democrats had decades to codify Roe and rein in the If You Want A Soft Serve Go Get Ice Cream T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this Federalist Society’s judiciary crusade and now I’m lacking a fundamental human right and our courts could be called rogue in places! Boomers have largely cultivated the reputation they have for themselves as selfish and narcissistic, kinda like the way police create their own reputation through repeated offenses. Lots don’t keep up with what’s current in terms of building yourself. Sure what worked for them did in fact work for them. But in an ever growing world (especially when the 90s hit), a lot of their “advice” was outdated or wrong. They same some good points though but gets ruined when they try to relate the times when they were young compared to what’s current with the young generation now. My parents are boomers, I think it’s because they were the last generation to really have fair at the “dream” whatever the hell that is. Plus they are the last generation that try and maintain this attitude like they know everything and understand everything and really want to tell you about it. Like it’s a way of saying look at what I accomplished, look at all my stuff, look how successful I am, now do shit the way I tell and the same will happen for you. Of course that’s bs because they lack the wherewithal to understand that the world they grew up with doesn’t exist anymore and it doesn’t function anything like they believe that it does.
