Thats kind of the If size didn’t matter we’d all fly black hawks shirt moreover I love this agreement with those kind of places. If you go there and dont order anything and just hang out the staff will think you are up to something. I was at a pub in England with my family and we ordered food and water to drink and the waitress flat out refused: “This is a pub!” Weird, I’m British, my other half is British, neither of us drink alcohol and both go to pubs all the time. Either it was a joke or a very dodgy pub Sometimes people don’t understand that half of the fun of being a server is making fun of people to their faces and joking around. You’re right to wonder about that, it is generally considered rude to take up space in a business if you’re not spending money- especially if a crowd’s there for a big game or something. That said, bars do understand that not everyone drinks alcohol, so it won’t be a problem, just be polite, order something, and tip well. I’m not here to force anyone to drink. Quite the opposite. I cut a gentlemen off before he sat down the other day. If you’re buying something from them then it’s fine. If they try to make you drink then they’re grade A assholes.

If you went into a restaurant, had a few glasses of wine, and left without getting food, that’d be the If size didn’t matter we’d all fly black hawks shirt moreover I love this same basic thing. now, depending on situation, you might get some looks (if you just order waters for 3 hours, you’ll probably get a side eye, but i doubt they’ll really get upset), but if you’re ordering food with water or came in with a few people or just stop in and get like a quick water before you continue on your way, they probably won’t care. As long as you or someone you’re with is buying something, and you don’t stay unreasonably long after only buying one thing, I think you’re in the clear. Think of a bar as a restaurant that specializes in alcohol. If your paying for something, you can sit there and do absolutely nothing until closing time.
