All in all, I just felt like I saw a 3-hour pretentious film that took itself way too seriously with too many plots that ended up not fulfilling. If you want to have a bad faith argument as to why I didn’t like the film you liked then you don’t have to. Completely agree with you re: the producer saying they’re gunning for The Dark Knight, especially when there are so many elements in The Batman that invite comparison to the film. Riddler video messages vs. Joker video messages, Alfred about to blow up vs. Harvey/ Rachel about to blow up, Batman interrogating the villain in police custody, bombs strategically blowing up around Gotham… TDK comes out on top in all of these examples, too. this movie was slow as hell, very flat pacing. the story itself was fantastic, lots of good ideas on display, but it was too plodding for me to actually enjoy it. It’s possible to make a dense movie full of deep characters and dark atmosphere while still having some room for levity and deliver it in less than 3 hours. you can look to the movies like Zodiac or Seven, which the Batman is clearly inspired by, to see that you can tell a rich, emotional, dark, complex story much more efficiently than this movie does. On paper, this movie is great, but it just so dull and has no rhythm to it. I do applaud the effort here though, clearly this movie was made by people who love the character. there is nothing half-assed about it. A for Effort. C+ execution imo. Hopefully Dano returns and hopefully Pattinson brings some more range to his Bruce in the next installment.

In reading the I’d Love To Run Against Biden In 2024 Who Would Be Better Trump Shirt in other words I will buy this top comments, I believe this will be an unpopular opinion, but I can’t believe how bad this script was. Just a few examples: Half of the scenes’ opening lines was “Jesus” Gordon spelling out the plot to the audience – “Falcone is the rat??” Quirky lines intending to be funny fell flat – “I ordered Pumpkin Pie” Dialogue between Wayne/Alfred was extremely forced – “Falcone killed them?” The cinematography was well done, and I enjoyed the Neo-noir theme. However, I felt the actors were handicapped by a terrible script which led to subpar performances even for Dano . His scene in Arkham with the Batman had so much potential, and it just felt like he didn’t get there. I had hopes this would be the next Dark Knight, and feel it fell completely flat. All my friends I saw it with agreed. Script needed improvement. That Alfred/Wayne scene in the hospital is one of the worst-written scenes ever in a movie I’ve seen. They should’ve cut it.
