I just got off a screening of The Batman by Matt Reeves and here are my thoughts… The movie was well shot and directed very well by Matt Reeves. Robert Pattison’s performance of the I An Not Feeling Very Worky Today Snoopy Shirt moreover I will buy this Dark Knight is better than Bale’s, he captures his gritty gruesome demeanor. Doesn’t have that obnoxious growl that Bale has. Catwoman actually made sense as to why she was in this movie albeit not necessarily significant to the film. The haunting score complemented the dreary feel of the film. Its thrilling and suspenseful tone guides the emotional path of the audience perfectly. Amazing visuals and cinematography. Batman turned upside down with flames behind him going towards the Penguin and the ‘Raging Demon’ hallway fight was eye candy. Basically this movie is not action pact enough to be a Batman film nor is it thrilling or clever enough to be a thriller-horror film. This movie doesn’t justify the 3-hour run time. I was basically bored halfway through the film up until the interrogation scene and the ending climax.

The reason for my boredom was due to how much exposition and info dump is in this film. Batman will do something related to the I An Not Feeling Very Worky Today Snoopy Shirt moreover I will buy this Riddler but a side character would have a side mission then reveal information that would then move the plot. It’s baffling that the producer would say they’re trying to beat Nolan’s TDK trilogy when this film isn’t better than any of them. In fact, it steals all three and condenses them. It takes: Batman Begin’s early Batman years and crime mob/police compromised storyline TDK Joker’s multiple killings, video messages, interrogation, and beating Batman with their minds, not their strength TDKR’s No Mans Land when Gotham is blown up at the climax There is no Bruce Wayne. Pattinson has a linear personality with his Batman and alter ego unlike the comics or all the other films. I’d like for him to put his Bruce Wayne mask on a couple of times in the film. Him coming to the funeral bodacious which gives angry bystander more depth or going club as ‘drunk’ Bruce asking for ‘drops’ being depressed and asking Falcone if it was true. Though I understand if it’s not the right tone. Not enough Edward Nashton/Riddler. I wished we got more of Dano’s eerie performance as Nashton, his scene in the diner was cringe and disturbing. A Riddler vs Batman fight would be amazing too in the middle with him and his henchmen. His weapon could’ve been like a crowbar shaped more like a question mark (kind’ve a node to the comics). The climax could’ve been in the orphanage-filled Saw-like concoction where Batman’s trapped and he has to answer a riddle “Who is the Batman?” and he as to answer it in front of everyone. Another tidbit is that if Batman is such a good detective how come he didn’t investigate the point of view of where someone could’ve taken the photos of The Mayor and Annika? Thats where the Riddler was all along..
