And it reflects a dynamic that is always present in the I Wear Green For My Mom Lymphoma Cancer Awareness T-Shirt moreover I will buy this types of brutally enforced rigid hierarchies that these fundamentalist proto-fascists fantasize about. That the disenfranchised groups that are oppressed by the system should just keep their mouths shut and suffer in silence, ie ‘don’t get uppity’. Also think there’s a distinction to be made here where getting bullied by an ignorant classmate is not the same as state-sanctioned attacks. My people, LGBTQ people were routinely thrown in jail just for existing. Gay venues were raided just because they were gay venues. They were photographed and had their images printed in the papers for all to see and then, at best ostracized by the community, at worst physically attacked, brutally beaten and sometimes killed. And their only “crime” was existing as an LGBTQ person.

100% – bigots and fascists only understand the I Wear Green For My Mom Lymphoma Cancer Awareness T-Shirt moreover I will buy this languages of humiliation and violence (in the understanding that I mean rhetorical violence, not physical). Appealing to their logic or greater humanity will do nothing. Embarrassing them and ostracizing them might do something. True, but consider their aims – their posts are usually performative and intended for a third party reader. They’re not trying to change your mind they’re trying to sway someone less opinionated who they imagine would see the exchange. That’s why humiliating them is important. Fucks their game up. They have no shame but soundly defeating them in their little performance art is worthwhile. My dad used to say: “Don’t argue with stupid people, they only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience” we’ll played checks notes springy boi I don’t know if people like this ever feel like idiots. The Dunning-Kruger effect is really strong with them and they seem to just constantly convince themselves that even though they don’t know anything about anything, their idiotic views are right and those who disagree are the real idiots. I’m a federal employee. Practically EVERY month is some group’s Heritage month or Awareness for something month. He knows straight people are still allowed to use them, right? You don’t need to show your gay card at the corner…
