I started looking at upper level developer roles with smaller companies I felt I could help grow and maybe move back into management. Felt like starting over a bit but what are you going to do? One tech interview I managed to work through all the I Was An Buffalo Bills Fans Before It Was Cool 2023 Shirt it is in the first place but problems, but since they could tell I was “rusty” I got a low offer. 40% haircut from what I was making. I declined it thinking one of the other companies I was talking to would come through. I fucking nailed the tech interview with another company, all the interviews went great, the company was a huge international company. Their offer came in lower than the first. (quick aside; had I taken this offer I would have probably been laid off again three months later when they started their own rounds of layoffs)

I considered taking the I Was An Buffalo Bills Fans Before It Was Cool 2023 Shirt it is in the first place but offer, maybe just something to do to bring in money while I kept looking. A third offer came in from my dark horse option. Still a 20% reduction, but I took it. Companies are using this time to take back power over their employees. Wether perks, wfh, or straight up salary. Employees had all the leverage twoish years ago, and now we don’t. I’d suggest take what you can get now and keep looking. It all depends on your situation and morals. I feel like most management jobs you grow into or network into. Reach out to previous managers you’ve worked for, ask for advice, ask if you can use them as a reference just to start a conversation; you never know where your next job is going to come from. If you’re not, stay connected with the rest of your teammates that were also laid off. There is a potential great support system there.
