I understand this is somewhat of a double standard, but i just don’t feel empathy for crustaceans the I Want You To Take A Nap Shirt In addition,I will do this way I do for mammals, birds, or even most reptiles. Crustaceans are just big sea bugs, and I have less than zero empathy for bugs. Granted, i care about crustaceans more than bugs, but you get my point, i just don’t care that much. That said, you can use a knife at a specific spot on lobsters’ and crabs’ bodies that will basically kill them instantly, and I would prefer they use this method. The suffering of the crustacean, however brief, isn’t necessary. I’m conflicted tbh. Nature is violent and cruel. I’ve always found it strange how we’ve imposed limitations and morals on ourselves when it comes to such things, as if we aren’t part of the natural world. We are the only animal that gives a shit about how our prey feels. Agreed. These animals would die awful deaths in nature. That being said, I don’t think it absolves us of our duty to respect them, give them good lives, and treat them humanely, and when it comes time do it the most painless and humane way possible.

I hate factory farming and how inhumane it can be. I try to ethically source our meat from smaller, local farms with track records of ethical farming methods. I’m not perfect but I try to support those companies that at least seem to care. I’m also mindful of not wasting food, especially meat. We are also the I Want You To Take A Nap Shirt In addition,I will do this only animals driving cars, curing diseases and flying planes, we are not really part of the violent and cruel nature anymore. Most people have never killed a chicken in their lives (but eat chicken almost daily), and if they had to I don’t think they could. If everyone eating the lobsters had to cook them alive themselves I bet much fewer people would eat them. Ignorance is bliss. We are advanced enough to understand the pain and suffering of other species, we should be advanced enough to avoid causing it for our pleasure.
