Living in suburban Brisbane here and we have a huntsman living with us, don’t see it very often but she there. Honestly though I’d be much more afraid of living in America, animals can be scary as fuck but kids with guns? Yeah fuck that! As a Kiwi this is definitely what I believed before coming here, but definitely not as scary as expected. I guess it depends on where in Melbourne you live though as we regularly see huntsman, red backs and recently a brown snake. We live in the I Used To Live in Your Balls Silly Father’s day T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this suburbs with the area around us being labelled the snake capital of Melbourne so still a little daunting at certain times of the year You think it’s just Americans but for once it’s not, I recently was lucky enough to travel Europe and because I was on a budget I regularly stayed in hostels. Most of the people in hostels are people who travel regularly and all over and a massive percentage of them told me they wouldn’t go to Australia because of the wildlife (this is despite the fact that going to Australia is so common in parts of Europe I’ve been told it’s a bit of a stereotype for young people travelling) I feel every place I stayed had a group of people with this viewpoint and no matter how you explained it they refused to accept that I a person who lived in this country was telling them it really isn’t that dangerous.

Hah, I haven’t either since I moved here from QLD a few years back where I’d see a plethora of wildlife every day As an American, I was almost killed by a drop bear near St Kilda. Barely got out of there with my life. Florida Man IS a predator. Why do you think the most of the rest of the US is too scared to visit Australia? Adding Florida Man to your ecosystem made Australia one of the most dangerous places on the planet. It’s always so dumb. Yes, our animals may be extremely venomous, but they either won’t duck with you if you leave them alone, or you can kill it with a shoe. In America you have bears and cougars and bobcats and a bunch of other really large carnivorous animals that will attack you and a shoe won’t do shit. I lived there for a while (aussie) and when describing how cold and windy it can be in Melbourne during Winter, she replied: “Well I guess it would be windy, since you’re on an island” I played a game when I last visited the US to see how far I could take the stories… drop bears, crocodiles, cassowaries (hmm, should that be two Rs?), irukandji jellyfish. I usually could go on for a full hour or so but my ex-wife after about a week shut me down and yelled at me for how far I was taking it with uber drivers and randoms in bars!
