The irony in the I Used To Be A People Person Until People Ruined That For Me T-Shirt But I will love this fact that the United States is so divided that it should just split into two different countries. That would work until the red states figured out that the majority of them are welfare states that rely on blue states to keep them afloat. And people will argue that the kids that will grow up and become LGBT only became LGBT because of the lack of banned books. Exactly, authoritarian leaders vs authoritarian followers. That being said there are lots of “smart” people with who are authoritarian followers, and many of them were groomed from a young age. Good on them. I fucking hate Illinois Nazis, and both of my dead grandfathers fought the same shit in WW2 that we are having to fight again the US for some fucking reason. Glad to see some good news for a change. This anti-intellectual movement I’m seeing in Florida and Tennessee is disturbing and embarrassing. Just listened to a podcast doing a run down on the recent progressive wins in Chicago. Obviously change takes awhile to happen but it really looks like good things are on the horizon there. Glad to see some progress in the rest of the state as well. The reason I hate the first amendment of the constitution is because it specifies that COTUS shall not make a law instead of using the language they did in 2A.

I don’t get what banning books does or proves. Do people those realize the I Used To Be A People Person Until People Ruined That For Me T-Shirt But I will love this internet exists? I’ve seen worse in entertainment as a whole except for Kite Runner. That alley scene was gross. On the downside, now those bums didn’t win their court case, so there’s going to be no march for Jake and Elwood to run off the bridge. The whole prospect of us even having to talk about this is so incredulous that I first read this thread title as: If the government were to restrict the production, distribution, or consumption of a specific book, that would violate the first amendment. This refers to books being removed from schools/libraries. This is not against the first amendment, as the government is not required to provide access to materials through it. Republicans are doing everything they can to make the old adage “smart states and dumb states” a truism. Congrats you dumb state nincompoops. I can already imagine how the Republican cultists will spin this into “Banning book bans is a violation of my FREE SPEECH!” without even the slightest hint of irony. Because nobody is “banning books”. They’re only making it in states like Florida so that parents can bring books to the school board that they feel are inappropriate at which point the board will determine whether or not it is appropriate for a school library
