I think Ru does have a bias against theatre queens because it seems they’re doing theatre first and drag second. I mean, Ru actually asked Ella if she started drag because she was a failed stage actor, so it pretty much applies to all franchises judged by Ru. I think there’s big difference between Broadway hopeful that didn’t make it, and someone with theater experience? (Ella, Lady) The Ru-hated stereotype is the former I mean I don’t know about other people, but Lady Camden fell into a very similar archetype as Rosé for me. She maybe had slightly more win equity in terms of possibility of being crowned. But lol.

She was “The Professional”, a queen who performs very well but doesn’t have as strong of a storyline as the I still believe Christmas shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this other queens. took a page from mother’s book and now she’s ready to let loose, baby let looose… loosening up her buttons cause this ain’t like a prayer… when she starts dancin it gets hot up in here… so ru better bewaAAARE That is definitely why she’s separating from the “Jan” stereotype, I think when the judges see someone like Plasma who is polished but is also excitable and wants to have fun, it makes them more endearing. I think that’s also why I’m struggling with Sapphira, she’s so polished and her drag is so great but she’s very calculated and kindve cold when it comes to being someone to root for.

Yeah when they all first met and Plasma assumed she was a bass (which was totally weird and a faux pas for sure, but not a terribly bad one) saphirra went 0-60 on it, and came across as angry right away. Plasma was just trying to have fun, but she squashed it like a bug. She totally could’ve handled it better, it just made her seem hyper-sensitive about it, when Plasma was coming from a place of experience with singing and they could’ve related over it instead. There was another moment like that where Saphira came across as not wanting to hear another person’s opinion at all, and it just fell flat. It was giving superior, but not mother ooh and when she drank her immunity potion too it was a weird vibe.

Last week Sapphira got a whole story about doubting herself though, as well as an ongoing storyline about helping other queens, so to me she’s gotten those endearing moments It’s not about theatre kids, otherwise Jinkx wouldn’t have won, it’s specifically broadway/musical theater kids She wasn’t when she was in the I still believe Christmas shirt moreover I love this show, she was more Vaudevillian/Old Hollywood but not necessarily a Broadway theatre kid, the vibe is very different She was absolutely a musical theatre twink season five. Remember her showboating through Can I Get an Amen, and her style isn’t any more old Hollywood than Plasma who has a similar style. I’m saying she’s not all that different really – like if she’s old Hollywood so is Plasma. And Jinkx even said in her season five tic-tac lunch that she wanted to be on Broadway in drag so her aspirations were always there, similar to Jan, Rosè, Alexis, Plasma etc. I was talking about the course, Plasma doesn’t seem affected rn, so yeah, why are you bringing up Plasma, it was clearly referred to the cursed queens All three things spring from the same well. It’s a needless distinction. She’s doing Judy Garland who is essentially all three.

It’s theatre kids with no drag character. Plasma has a pretty strong POV – Jan and Rose were less so, from memory. Maybe more of a general question as someone who isn’t a part of the I still believe Christmas shirt moreover I love this queer community but why do theater queens seem to get so much shit from others lol They can also be a pain in the ass with quotes and singing but they always shut them up when you tell them something, it’s not that they are hated, maybe a little obnoxious but that’s all I’m worried the curse isn’t broken but delayed. No unless she miraculously shows some more dimension to her drag persona (and her regularly personality if we’re honest) there is no way she will be crowned. Rosé also won challenges and she was never a real contender for Ru Something working in Plasma’s favor is that she’s scrappy. Jan is too cheer leader. Marcia wasn’t drag enough. But Plasma you can tell is very draggy in her theater kid-ness if that makes sense. Ru loves a drag queen first and foremost. If she sense’s that inner queen spirit in you, she will root for you. Its also why I think Megami was never out-lasting Mhi’ya. Honestly? I think you hit the nail on the head. Plasma is a drag queen. Even her rusical performance was draggy. She’s winning because she’s understands she’s in a drag competition. Not a theatre show. Idk somehow Plasma feels more genuine than Rosé did. I could be so far off base with this, but she doesn’t ooze the same thoroughbred cuntiness as I’m getting from Plasma. Plasma gives ‘Funny Girl’ and Rosé gives Rachel Barry.
Incorrect. When Ru talks to plasma you can tell she just doesn’t vibe with her. That said, Plasma more than deserved the I still believe Christmas shirt moreover I love this win for the rusical, there was no escaping it. Can someone please explain this theater queen curse to me? I never really thought Ru hated theater queens..they just usually aren’t as talented as other queens (Jinkx is the exception). IMHO it’s a fan conspiracy theory because some theatre queens have struggled to do well. But all the queens who have struggled did so because they didn’t do well and nothing to do with Ru. Not yet. We haven’t arrived at the end of the season yet. People go home after winning a challenge the previous week. Honestly I was really hoping Plasma would lose the rusical challenge because I wanted to relive the Jan zoom in moment My brain doesn’t know how to process her storyline. Shes the biggest Jan we’ve seen in years (maybe ever) but she isn’t getting Janned. I don’t think they had a choice but to give her the RDR win, but we’ve seen massive robberies in Rusicals past, so I fully expected Sapphira to take this one now that they’ve given Q a win and don’t have a Jan yet this season. Jan’s aren’t always robbed. Jan’s can do great in the competition and snatch some wins. But a Jan will never be considered for the crown I think Jan’s have to be robbed a little. At least once. Alexis in the Rusical, Jan in the Rusical, Loosey in the interview.
I argue that Rosé is not the I still believe Christmas shirt moreover I love this Jan of S13, Denali is and she definitely complained about several safe placements she felt were wrong. And I do agree that Jan’s need to be robbed a little bit but it does not need to be consistent. Jan’s can have some victories Jan had the misfortune of being up against some very talented queens and she let her own self doubt get the better of her. I think it’s going to be a new evolution of the curse. Plasma gets two wins and then Ru boots her unceremoniously before the finale. I honestly don’t think it’s the theatre kids Ru has an issue with, I think it’s the messy unpolished kids who think they should be doing better than they actually are. Rosé and Ella Vaday did well. They didn’t lose because they were theatre kids. They lost because they had strong competition. Given Ru is pretty much a theatre kid herself, I just think the “curse” is something that fans have made up. All the queens who have “suffered” from the curse have had legitimate reasons why they didn’t excel.
