If you, like me, are a fan of Catan, but find it not tedious and nitpicky enough, check out Castles of Burgundy! SO and I lovingly refer to it as “Cones of Dunshire, but more” I discovered Catan like 5 months ago and now my family plays weekly every Saturday and Sunday. I’ve been buying the I Paused My Anime For America Girls Heart American Flag T-Shirt moreover I will buy this different versions like every 2 weeks. We never really played board games before Catan and now we’re all just trying to power through the week in order to sit down and play this game. Absolutely perfect game. I came super close this year to paying the money to have my license plate customized to say “CATAN”. What a fantastic game that I hope never to play again in my life. It makes everyone into monsters. Every time I’ve played, it’s ended with a terrible headache. Like literally every time. 1 day agoI have had a question about this game for ages no one has been able to answer. I speak Hebrew, and the Hebrew word for small is קָטָן, which is pronounced like catahn. Is this a coincidence or was this intentional? I always thought maybe it was named as such because you are settling a “small” kingdom.

Catan is a fantasy word and a late addition to the I Paused My Anime For America Girls Heart American Flag T-Shirt moreover I will buy this title as to not create problems with the video game “the settlers” which was published during the development of the boardgame. Although it is possible that the Hebrew word was an inspiration it is not very likely and ist was definitely not choosen for it’s meaning. RIP Mr. Teuber. Thanks for all your games.Settlers is a great idea but not a well designed board game overall. It’s super successful and popular so being well designed isn’t holding it back, but I can’t think of any other board game that had to remove most of the rules in expansions to patch all the game design issues. Neat idea, very successful, but a complete game design mess that leaves most players upset if you play it enough. Keep in mind how different boardgames were during the early to mid 90s. That’s the environment Teuber developed Catan in. I believe at the time many of his ideas were fairly innovative. Many modern, more well-designed games stand on the shoulders of giants and Catan is certainly one of those giants.
