I barely remembered what I saw cause my eyes were closed. Why couldn’t they have showed TLC birthing videos ? We could of got the idea and not the trauma. Nothing was censored. In the modern day, the average woman should be more concerned with her physical fitness if she wants an easy birthing process. Our bodies were designed to lead a hunter gatherer lifestyle and women remained active during pregnancy. Evolution doesn’t work like that. If it’s good enough to pass on genes better than others, it’s good enough for evolution. It’s extremely rare. Look up child mortality rates and reasons behind them. Most are explainable. There’s always the wild card. Like getting hit by lightning. Cows die in childbirth. In some countries they are worth more than another child. Especially a producer. It’s called life.

Nutrition wise our diets have improved compared to far earlier times. We have more access to vitamins and food isn’t scarce. Therefore babies have become larger (with of course larger heads). Evolutionary wise we havent caught up with this by having bigger and bigger hips. Evolution isn’t strictly physical (unless you agree all conscious thought is physical b/c brains are.) I’ll tell you what has ALSO evolved a lot in relation to child birth and trauma – age of marriage and birth has gone up, as has agency to have / not have kids. Although it is still a fight, we have a LOT of ground on our ancestors to options for contraception and abortion, as well as lacking pressure to marry and have kids b/c of mortality rates.
