Um… death due to childbirth is incredibly rare these days, unless you live in a severely underprivileged country. Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. It has to do with how we evolved to walk upright. As awesome as it has been for us, it is also the main contributor to our difficult labors because it made our hips less birth efficient. Human heads are also not exactly small.

I wish i could fist fight a gorilla, but I’m happy to know I can kill it with a ballistic missile. At least the brain gets flooded with happy chemicals so mothers don’t remember childbirth being as traumatic as it actually is. Why did our brains get big so fast that the birth canal couldn’t adapt to such a big head? Because humans learned to hunt big animals and we learned to cook with fire. Both of those required us to have much better social skills. That’s why we needed the bigger brain.
