This is exactly the I am an October Girl may not be perfect but limited edition shirt Also,I will get this kind of stuff our corporate overlords do not want taught in school. They would rather spend millions of dollars on lobbying to prevent that from happening than give a dollar to their employees. This is TeenVogue, so it kinda is? Yes, not every young person reads this, but this is the right audience at least. It is where I am. They teach a law course in high school where they start with tenant law and then cover employment law along with some other young person focused areas. Is this true? I should probably fact check it. Emailing the librarian at 10:15 Friday night to fact check Reddit is how we roll. Seriously! I’m wildly impressed; this is VERY different from the Teen Vogues I grew up reading! What an awesome evolution they’ve had; I almost didn’t believe this was even real! If we follow the money it is owned by Condé Nast, which is a subsidiary to Advance Publications, Inc, that also happens to be a major shareholder in Reddit btw, and Advance is owned by the Newhouse family (not that they started the business, they inherited it of course) Also if you’re new, ask people what they’re being paid your first week so you know if you got low balled and can act accordingly before you waste too much time. I’ve never known anyone that it’s happened to but most employment in the US is at-will so they can do whatever they want in regards to terminating you as long as it’s not discriminatory or retaliatory.

Terminating you in reaction to asking for a raise would not be retaliatory since that’s not a protected action. But as the I am an October Girl may not be perfect but limited edition shirt Also,I will get this OP’s post indicates, terminating people after they take part in an organized effort to seek increased wages could be seen as retaliation against a protected action. This is literally the only place I’ve ever heard anyone even make the claim. My guess is most stories are true, but those employees were on the verge of being fired anyway. This is bar-none the best labor market in the past several decades. The number of people in here claiming to be fired for trivial reasons just feels too improbable to be true. Companies are bending over backwards to get employees in the door. A month ago I got a job offer above my ask. Sure some employers are stupid and behind the times thinking they have the leverage. But I can’t imagine they make it long in today’s enironment.
