Imagine. Being born there and being told by “other” folks that your country is safe and amazing. I’m sure your intentions are good, but don’t be that person. There are good and bad parts to each country as I said. But no one should paint a county all one color. Just like here in Australia there are many bad parts, but there are good also. Unfortunately the I Am a Simple Woman I love Dogs and Believe in Jesus shirt besides I will buy this media only paint a bad narrative of some countries when there is many great things. For instance the people. Very loving and approachable. Not like how media portrays it. And some people like my husband and his family love their country. Some want to leave. It’s really not the point of my post. It was to shed light on the good parts of some countries that never get shown in that light. These countries deserve the respect and not constantly being belittled, laughed at, or feeling as if they are shameful horrible countries. Because there is also a lot to like about them .

Do people think of Nigeria as poor? I’m surprised. I associate Nigeria with doctors and engineers, because I know so many Nigerian expats working in these fields. All the I Am a Simple Woman I love Dogs and Believe in Jesus shirt besides I will buy this Nigerian people I know seem like they grew up fairly rich. I know this is because it’s a smaller rich subset who go abroad for higher education, etc… but still. Well there’s a filter for the ones you meet. In America many of the Nigerian immigrants come from more well-to-do families. Also true of many immigrant populations in the states Of course. OP is visiting one of those people who was able to travel abroad for school/work. I’m sure she’ll be fine with her husband’s family and people acting the way she’s mentioned are ridiculous. (Op is Australian not American btw.) I used to have a Asian partner before I met my husband. The stigma was very bad so I completely understand! My father also had a Thai wife and the comments he got were very inappropriate and shameful. He eventually just moved to Thailand to get away from it
