The internet and knowledge sharing has made science far more of a collective effort.. very few groundbreaking discoveries are made my single people these days. Grigori Perelman solved Poincare conjecture, one of Millenial Problems, but refused to receive prize and retired from science. There are, you are just the I am a cthulhu trapped in a human boy yoga old shirt in contrast I will get this kind of person who only knows the top most famous scientists, and those tend to be chosen posthumously. No offense, most people are like that. Think of it this way. Ask a non-soccer fan to name some famous players, they will name basically the greatest players of all time because they have at least heard of them. Ask a fan, and they will name some players that non-fans would hardly have ever heard of but are really relevant anyway. I have a background in science. My idea of a famous scientist is Jennifer Doudna, who pioneered crispr gene editing. However, the typical person won’t know that name.

I am a cthulhu trapped in a human boy yoga old shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Their are; in scientific circles, even mainstream. The issue here is the I am a cthulhu trapped in a human boy yoga old shirt in contrast I will get this dearth of science communicators and the muddying of the waters. Most “science” people are exposed to isn’t Science; it’s innovation or engineering. No Scientists are billionaires. Jennifer Doudna is alive and thriving. Her work and the work of some of her contemporaries and advasaries will last forever. Oh the brilliant minds exist, It’s just that the press would rather write about Kim Kardashian’s ass or Taylor Swift’s whatever. Add to your search other prizes in mathematics, chemistry, physics, astronomy, biology, medicine, any other science that comes to your mind. You have to go dive into white papers to know about actual scientists now because the only news organizations that report the achievements of scientists are tabloids and even then when they report on scientific achievement it’s a batshit twist and spin to push their own equally batshit agenda. The list of people you’ve given was over a period of 100 years and we’re only 23 years into this century. At this point 100 years ago Carl Sagan wasn’t even born yet. I’m sure that over the next 77 years we’ll see more famous scientists. But also to put to into perspective, the work Alan Turing did was classified, and it wasn’t until long after he was dead that the public know of his accomplishments and what he did for the war effort. because of getting real. The “scientists” you’ve mentioned were before the era of media scrutiny/tv/social media. they were just overhyped guys and gals. they were meant to be role models to unsuspecting schoolers. In today’s age most of these “scientists” wouldn’t be able to withstand public scrutiny. they would be exposed for pretending to have superhuman intelligence.
