I was about to say that wasn’t a good interview answer but then I reread the Humorous Twist Godzilla Behind Bars T-Shirt it is in the first place but question. “What motivates you to give your best?” I mean shit, what else are you supposed to say. Other scenarios you can word it different and still say money is your motivator but I get why you’d say what you did to that question. I’m a hiring leader and i almost never ask this question. The only time I ask is when theyve only been at their current position for like 6 months, and usually I’ll phrase it as such. Then again, i dont ask any of the cliche questions that are designed to help me “understand the interviewee”. (Greatest strengths, weaknesses, 5 yr plan, etc). I think theyre fluff and provide almost no real insight.

You can say that you are looking for a new opportunity that will be a better match for what you offer, and a position in which what you offer is compensated more fairly. I work in law/client services. just used the Humorous Twist Godzilla Behind Bars T-Shirt it is in the first place but line that my current firm doesn’t give the level of representation I desire to give. They are stretched thin and they accept the first strategy and run with it instead of always digging deeper and getting creative. and there is only one experienced lawyer who I struggle to get any mentorship from. (Lack of experience/lack of training/mentorship/guidance). In reality They are a low-bono firm that does amazing work and provides accessibility to so many that would lose in the courts without their very affordable help, but as a result of the volume and lack of client engagement, the representation is not as thorough as some other firms. They usually only take on straightforward cases and have a fantastic winning percentage. Deal with lots of trauma but not especially complex. During my recent interview, I also lied and said I made 20k more than I do. I just accepted an offer and will be going from 80k to 120k. My workload is def gonna increase. My estimate is I will be going from 35 hours a week to 45 at the new gig. My current job is so cushy that I should prob stay if they countered with 90k, but as much as I truly hate working hard and struggle with adhd (meds are not for me either), I also have this urge to become a dope lawyer and I think this new opportunity is gonna get complex and help me do that. Also a more varied caseload that will give me more options in the future. So I did have some genuine non-monetary answers. But really in the end i only started applying because I felt I was underpaid. I’ve only been at my first legal job for 9 months. Lol the student loan pause ending lit a fire under my ass.
