Imagine if they didn’t shut down their nuclear reactors, fossils would only be used as some immediate power reserves when there’s a small peak that nuclear can’t ramp up fast enough for and they would have close to a clean power grid But they decided to go the Hugs and high fives lunch lady life hand watercolor T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this other way around In this thread: non Germans who don’t understand that no German political party would be elected that would reinstate nuclear. The German population is so anti nuclear, there is no way to get around that. They’d rather drown or sweat to death than build nuclear plants. I mean yes, Germany going for more renewables is good, but coal burning always goes down around this time of the year since people don’t need to heat their flats and houses anymore. But it’s also down compared to previous Mays. There are 7 other Mays shown in the graph since 2015, all with (a lot) more coal production.

German Nuclear industry be like: lül let’s just throw the Hugs and high fives lunch lady life hand watercolor T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this barrels around and fuck off, no one will ever know when they start leaking Also German Nuclear industry + foreign Nuclear fanboys: WTF why don’t the Germans trust the Nuclear industry???? It should be reminded that what’s important at the end of the line is not how electricity was generated, but how much CO2 was produced. What about electricity prices? Are they fine in Germany too? Reducing for consumers and industry? Frankly interested, I am not from Germany. Electricity prices in Germany are mostly dictated by the natural gas price. Because the cost of gas has been falling for about six months now, electricity prices are also coming down. 526 more repliesAs a German I’m proud that my country strives for more renewable energy. I lived close to a nuclear powerplant and tbh it was pretty scary reading about some of the incidents that happened over the years As logical as saying “April 2023 Finland opened one of the world’s largest nuclear power plants: now the electricity is so cheap that you get paid to waste it”. Edit: You missed the point of my made up title. The both statements are true but they’re barely correlated. The negative priced electricity is basically all caused by massive hydro power (and also it has been very windy) production because snow and ice has melt and there isn’t enough room in the lakes and rivers. They couldn’t even use all the water because there was too much of it and not enough turbines and grid.
