At that age- it’s 2 of 3 of their life’s greatest joys — Food and Snuggles. (Poo is the third). Blood doesn’t get diverted to the stomach. It’s just that your body diverts focus and prioritizes digestion, which requires a lot of energy, which then leads to a drop in alertness. my understanding is that it is literally blood flow redistribution body directs more blood flow to the digestive system to aid in the digestion and absorption of nutrients resulting in less blood flow to the brain
