I work at a new York state walmart so that may be why but in my opinion walmart is better as a starter job than 80% of other places . During COVID, associates in my area got a massive raise (from $13 an hour to $17) but that hasn’t happened since. We just get the yearly raise (which I think is 2%?) BUT one of the awesome things about NYS is uncapped PPTO. It makes the attendance system bearable. (Yet mode of my coworkers still somehow have 4 points constantly, and their points keep getting taken off for them so they won’t be fired) I recently started working at Walmart. Free food happens multiple times a week. I thought this was a normal occurrence at every store. Is it not?

The two times we ever did was hot dogs on Labor Day, and there was a taco day once I don’t remember why. 2 days total when I happened to be working, in a little over a year As a nightshift worker nope, we used to get pizza or something like once every 3 months but now only dayshift gets it I think. We got a free lunch for appreciation week though. How is it legal to hire someone as part time knowing you’ll schedule them full time so they don’t qualify for benefits? Get set days off so then your schedule never changes… I’d love my store to do schedules last minute cuz then there would be no excuse for my last minute pto to get denied That’s how it used to be.
