Check out this Adam Curtis documentary called nonlinear warfare. Just watch the Godzilla 1954 – 2024 70th Anniversary Thank You For The Memories Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this 5 minute trailer on YouTube. That’s why History has a long list of civil wars that shows that people were always willing to rip each other’s throats out when there’s disagreement (doesn’t even have to be big topics) I agree it’s social media, but I disagree with the reasons why social media has caused it. Yes, the creation of echo chambers has exacerbated it to some extent, but there’s another cause people miss. Social media has given the spotlight and voices to people you probably would have never heard from otherwise. By way of example, I think it was easier for many people in the 60s to “agree to disagree” about issues like civil rights since most people were white and didn’t personally know any black people. Many white people were sympathetic to the civil rights movement, but it was easier to let an argumentative relative go off unchallenged or to treat it like an academic discussion since, whatever happened, it wouldn’t really affect you.

But now social media has brought the Godzilla 1954 – 2024 70th Anniversary Thank You For The Memories Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this voices directly from those experiencing the oppression. I’m social media friends with a handful of trans people, for instance, that I absolutely would have never met without social media. So when I hear people talking about trans issues, it’s not an abstract discussion that will ultimately not impact my life, it’s a very real and urgent issue that is directly affecting people I know and care about. As a result, I’m much more militant about trans issues and unwilling to simply treat it as a “agree to disagree” issue. People don’t understand the important nuanced elements of discourse and rhetoric. It’s tribal, boolean & bludgeoning now… Media biases fuelled in part by algorhythm issues with major platforms plus its easier to generate false media than real media We’re hungry, tired and overworked. The more we fight the more we seek out extremism. The more money they make. They more they pump out their views. The hungrier and more tired and more overworked we become. The cycle does what it does best.. continues.
