Guy still tried to make a run for it and one of the Gilmore Girls Jess Mariano 90’s Actor Shirt (watermarked) also I will do this police officers did actually get out to chase him while his partner followed Whether because he was wearing bulletproof armor already because of regulation or because of said lack of fitness the mugger was making good pace and the policeman wasn’t gonna catch him. So proceeds to pull his gun out and shoots a warning shot into the sky Mugger immediately stops, hands on head and gets down on his knees till policeman and partner in car arrive to handcuff him It very well could have hit someone on its way down, this is entirely irresponsible and violates every rule of firearm safety and the police officer should’ve lost his job for that. I would certainly hope so but you seem to be wildly overestimating the human capability for stupidity and I strongly urge you not to look at some middle eastern weddings where they fire dozens of fully automatic aks into the sky above them Obviously a police officer in America isn’t the same thing, but I’m just saying, if humans do it somewhere, they possess the capacity everywhere I’ve been a Marine in both Iraq and Afghanistan, a beat cop in DC, and now a federal agent. I have a decent idea of what people are capable of and are likely to do. The odds of a random redditor, responding to this question, having seen a cop fire a shot in the air the only time they’ve ever seen a chase, are remarkably low. Like, so low I’m calling bullshit tbh No worries man, the story just really doesn’t add up. Like, just think about every cop controversy you’ve ever seen – and there are plenty. Random warning shots aren’t a thing lol

I have some tasks at work that are a small part of my job but its still expected that i can perform them. Difference is someone else’s life doesn’t depend on my tasks. Fat cops should find another job or go for a run. Period. I understand your argument but part of the Gilmore Girls Jess Mariano 90’s Actor Shirt (watermarked) also I will do this job description is that they may have to chase someone down or they may have to pick something heavy up or they may have to run a certain distance so why aren’t they obligated to maintain a certain level of fitness that coincides with those activities. A lot of cities have explicitly banned chases over more then a short distance. The chance that someone HAS TO chase down a murderer is so low. Most of the time they have the license plate and just show up to their house later. So you’d end up with there only being a police presence in posh, rich neighbourhoods, and nothing in the rest of the community, allowing people who are willing to commit crimes to completely take over
