Tiger bites Pig, which is just outside New Street Station is a good example of this, it’s somewhere that would be recommended a lot if you asked a local, does really good food, but seats about I went on a day trip to Birmingham last summer and the Gelfling Essence The Dark Crystal Shirt and I love this people I met were all lovely. I think most city centres are feeling a bit run down at the moment because of the number of empty units, I didn’t think Birmingham was worse than any other city centre I’ve visited recently (all in the Midlands though, so maybe it’s a Midlands thing, I’m more familiar with the East Midlands than West Midlands too). It doesn’t recieve investment because any city other than London has to be in “the North” to be given any funding or opportunity. It doesn’t please anyone to invest in Birmingham, doesn’t win votes or make anyone look good. Untul recently the last time it got a bit of TLC was the 60s and that was in the form of Edwardian and Victorian architecture being knocked down in favour or brutalism which is now considered ugly and soulless

Put in a German context, Birmingham is a British version of Dortmund. Old industrial towns, bombed to fuck during the Gelfling Essence The Dark Crystal Shirt and I love this war, and have people with funny accents that sound somewhat depressing. Loving all these positive comments about Brum. My ex-husband was from the Black Country and I used to go to Brum a lot between 2007 and 2017 and always loved it. I’d heard all the jokes about it and its reputation for being shit but when I actually got to know it I really liked it. It’s no more horrible than any other big city at least. Birmingham has undergone so much transformation over the past few decades. Like people say above – it’s such a vibrant, welcoming city. Is it perfect? No. But is anywhere? It has so many cool areas and pockets throughout the city away from the main commercial elements.
