Wages haven’t kept up with inflation and they accept a lot more drivers than they probably should. Leads to poor performance all around. The drivers being impatient with restaurants is not new. As a former server/bartender until the Game day Tommy Stalk Eagles shirt Besides,I will do this pandemic pushed me out, DD drivers in the area I worked were the absolute worst. They demanded the food be done and didn’t understand that the app just sent the order to our computer system so the cooks had just started cooking it. They demanded we give them something to drink while they waited. Plus, they would start snapping and/or yelling at us (bartenders, servers, carside) when their wait was still within reason but unreasonable to them. Our restaurant computer system was directly linked with DD, Grubhub, and UberEats so those platforms knew exactly when food was done without us doing anything.

When I started Dashing a few months ago, I remembered what it was like on the Game day Tommy Stalk Eagles shirt Besides,I will do this other side of that getting paid nothing for those orders and how I didn’t appreciate the way they treated us when they weren’t even paying us. I act respectfully accordingly. Also, I smile because I want people to feel like their food is safe with me. And that I genuinely want them to enjoy their food. Everyone I know who Dashes, does the same. I don’t hear of many drivers being creepy. The gas thing is wild to me too. I saw that screenshot from the r/UberEatsDrivers or r/UberEats and that was ridiculous. I don’t dash if I don’t already have enough gas. Or if you do, get the DasherDirect (despite the problems that come with it), end your dash when you make enough, fill up your tank, then start dashing again. Also, I often choose to not dash in certain areas when I don’t want to waste too much gas and I know the zone is known to send me into another one where the orders are too far so my acceptance or completion rates aren’t affected. It’s not hard. Competition. You hit the golden period. Now the algorithm is attuned for the most profit for Door dash, the lowest cost to the customer, and bare minimum for the worker.
