We need to overhaul the Funny andruw Jones Spider Catch Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this whole goddamn system. Seriously. Our school system is more or less the same as 70 years ago. We need to change the required classes, the “core subjects” – and let technology provide a wide variety of educational experiences based on the needs of the community. Every subject has new and innovative curriculums just sitting out there. Most cant be implemented because it wont meet the traditional standards. More money? Educators will always argue that there is never enough funding, and throwing more money at a problem is never a solution. Take a look at the inner city schools. Accountability for one’s actions has to be among the starting points. A child who doesn’t want to learn can’t be forced to learn. A parent who doesn’t care can’t be forced to care. So what does society do? That’s the $$ question. Currently, I don’t see a way out. Teacher’s getting hit or beaten by the students, and you can’t do anything about it. Seriously, the bad ones should be kicked out of school and not allowed to return. Eff every kid has to have an education…. yeah, if they want one. The cure is sometimes painful, and we let the politicians get out of hand. Sorry for the rant at the end.

Parents need to vote in a way that always gives schools more money. School funding is based on local taxes, and although it sucks to pay more in taxes, when parents and community members shoot down levies designed to increase school revenue, what they’re really doing is increasing class size, limiting art and musical (and other enrichment) curriculums, reducing the Funny andruw Jones Spider Catch Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this ability to attract educators with SpEd/Extended Resource credentials, and placing the onus on already underpaid teachers to provide for their classrooms. Furthermore, as much as everyone hates attending meetings, parents need to attend them. Board meetings, curriculum meetings, committee meetings, PTA meetings and conferences. I would go so far as to say they need to get involved and find placement on some or all of these meeting panels in order to express concerns and solutions, but also to be a part in executing solutions and understanding how the district works.
