Now I don’t have numbers on the Funny alec Bohm Philadelphia Diamond Signature T-Shirt Besides,I will do this energetics, but just as a thought exercise, think about how slowly plants grow, that slow growth is their energy constraint. That’s them putting as much energy as possible into growth as they can, because in the plant world, whichever plant grows the fastest gets the most light and wins, so they grow as fast as possible. Now this assumes that the plant can spare 100% of it’s sugar’s for bioluminescence, in reality this would kill the plant, they need that glucose for respiration and growth. Let’s assume for the sake of me being able to finish writing this comment soon that we can simply allocate half the glucose to bioluminescence and the plant will simply grow at half the speed. So we need to grow a plant in with at least 6kg of leaves, now the highest % mass of leaves on a tree I can see is about 6% from this source , and the average looks to be around 2%, but assuming that we’ve got super leafy bioluminescent trees that means that they have a mass of 100kg. From the limited sources I could find a 100kg tree takes at least 55 months to grow, so at half growth rate that’s 110 months. So roughly 9-10 years.

Now imagine the Funny alec Bohm Philadelphia Diamond Signature T-Shirt Besides,I will do this space that you need for a 10kg tree in terms of soil for the roots. You can’t just leave it on the garden path, not only that but this tree needs the right amount of water and light and growth conditions. On top of that it’s got nutrient rich leaves that every insect and pest is going to want to eat, so you need to protect it. Considering that this tree costs millions you really don’t want it to die, especially since it took 9-10 years to grow. All of that is for 10W of light. You can’t move it either because it’s rooted to the ground. Compare that with one of those pathway lights with a solar panel that you can get from a garden center for relatively cheap. I don’t even care about safety function that much. If I can line my driveway with bushes that glow a bit that’s pretty sweet in my books. No, but if you cook them with monster parts, you’ll get an elixir that lets you glow even in the darkest caves.
