Worth checking if your employer has any assistance. Ours you get 6 sessions of counselling for free, then £1800 p/a to spend on therapy as well. Our work doesn’t advertise it as such, just part of an employee assistance thing they signed up to. You’ve so got this, even going back for one day is a big step and understandably scary but doing your best with it shows how much resilience you’ve built up and that’s not something to be sniffed at. Take it slow. Don’t put any pressure on yourself to do anything too fast. I’m glad your employer is being supportive. I’ve just been off for a month and I wish I could say it helped but my work made the return process so stressful for me. If your employer is understanding, make sure you engage with them at every point of the process and ask what they can offer as well as if they think there’s anything else that might help.

Couple bits of advice I can offer, though. Make sure you ask your GP to refer you to the Friday Is Here Party All Night shirt and I love this community mental health nurse if you’re not already in contact with them, more and more surgeries now have a CMHN that works specifically in liaison with them so it speeds up the process a bit and also give you that security of knowing who you’re dealing with. Also make sure you check out Mind because at the moment I saw on the Instagram they’re running some free sessions on various things so they might have something they can offer. Are you governemnt based by any chance? I got about a 6 month mental health break too as my OCD prevented me from leaving the house. CBT therapy had a 14 month waiting list. Ended up in ER 3 times. Government work place looks after you well though. I’m going back today after 4 weeks off with PTSD and I have aired a grievance against the company for failure of duty of care. The first thing I have to do is have a meeting about it. I’m also bricking it a bit.
